一.Over作介词用有六种常见用法

1.over表示“在......的上面”，不与下面的物体接触。

There are more than 10 bridges over the river.

这条河上有十多座桥。

The lamp over the table doesn’t work.桌子上面的灯不能用了。

When we were on the grassland,we could see the white clouds over our heads.在草原上，我们看见头上的白云。

2.over表示“越过”。

There is a ditch and I have to jump over it. 有一条沟，我得跳过去。

The plane often flies over the city.飞机经常从城市上空飞过。

3.over表示“遍及”相当于around。

SARS spread over China in 2003.2003年SARS病毒在中国爆发。

We all want to travel over the world.我们都想周游世界。

4.over表示数量上“超过”，相当于more than。

The population of China is over 1.4 bilion now.

中国现在的人口已超14亿。

5.over表示“通过”，相当于on.

He heard about the even over the Headline.

他从今日头条上听说这个事件的。

They often talk over the phone.他们经常在电话里交谈。

6.over表示“在......期间，......以来”。

I have learnt 600 English words over thepast year.

Over the moths he has lived with his sick mother.

二.Over作为副词有四种常见用法

1.表示“完了、结束”，用作表语。

The class is over. 下课了。

The semester is not yet over. 学期还没有结束。

2.表示“全部”。

Please read the book over.请看完这本书。

The lake is frozen over湖面全结冰了。

3.表示“重复地”。

I read the book three times over.这本书我反复地看三遍了。

You should often go over the lessons你应该经常复习功课。

4.表示“越过，出”。

Come over if you are free on Sunday.如果周日有空就过来吧。

I’ll go over there for a couple of days.我要过去那里几天。
